Revised ITR if Payment made but Challan Failed

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
If you've paid your Self Assessment Tax but the challan hasn't generated, you're in a tricky spot before the ITR deadline. The advice given is to file your Income Tax Return (ITR) on time, even without the challan. You can then file a revised ITR once the challan eventually appears, rather than risking a penalty for late filing.

15 September 2025 Payment of Self Assessment Tax has been deducted from my Bank account but Challan from IT Department has not been generated. The helplines are not working. It is said that the Challan will eventually get generated. But I'm afraid that if I don't file my ITR before the last date 15 Sept I will be penalized. So should I file my ITR without delay and (a) wait to explain the situation if I
receive a demand OR (b) file the Original ITR now & then file a Revised ITR when I get the Challan?

15 September 2025 File ITR now, you may revise it whenever challan gets generated.

15 September 2025 Good Luck.
