Revenue Stamp for receipts

29 May 2008 I am used to the revenue stamp affixing for LIC Receipts / Rental receipts and for any cash transaction beyond 5000.00 Rs. However, Telecom companies do not give receipts at the first instant and even if demanded, they dont affix revenue stamps. Is there any concessions extended to these telecom private players by Govt of India? Pls. clarify.

30 May 2008 i don't think there is any concession to anyone (although may be to govt. depts). cos. are just voilating the low.

31 May 2008 Is there any competing authority to report of this evasion? The beauty is , these vasool rajas telecom companies (The so called - CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTRES which are basically collection centres) are not even aware of this clause and bold enough to reply that "We have been getting bills in 10thousands and no one insisted revenue stamp". When FM is searching for avenues to burden the common citizen, why this corporate practices go unnoticed?
