if income is below taxable before any deduction under act.
What is the time limit to file return of income.
My income is 82400 for the A.Y.2011-12
Whether i can file return on 01-05-2014 or not.
If not then which section denies it.

the time limit for filing returns remain same for all (except for due date under 139(1))
with regards to AY 2011-12, return cannot be filed now. it is time barred under 139(5).

Sec 139(5) is of revise return

not exactly. the time limit is same for all the assessees as prescribed under 139(1) for in-time return. I mentioned 139(5) wrongly...I meant 139(4), which is for belated return.
what 139(1) says is that an individual is not required to file return if income is below exempted limit. but if you want to file the return, it has to be filed within the limits set in section 139.

Why we assume it in this way,we cannt say tht there is no time limit specified for below taxable income return.

to that, its a simple way....lets say you believe that 139(1) doesn't apply to you as your income is less than the exempted limit. Ok, now tell me under which section you want to file the return as, according to you, 139(1) applies to only those who have taxable income and you don't have it?

Since no section govern this case so we Should file it under 139(1) Filing of return of income but we have no time limit, bcoz time limit applicable only person having higher income.
