Resident status - physical stay required

31 January 2014 In this financial year, I made two visits to two different countries - China and Mauritius. Both of these were business trips and I stayed there from Monday 10th June to Sunday 16th June (China) and Monday 8th July to Saturday 13th July (Mauritius).

Then I left to Mauritius for employment on 22nd Sep,2013. So, when I will be calculating that "out of 182 days" thing for residency purposes, can I say that before 22nd Sep,2013, I was total of 13 days also outside India. Does for the calculation of residency purposes, only physical stay is calculated ?? Can I come back in third week of March,2014 and still be non-resident

31 January 2014 each and every day spent outside India will be counted. so include these 13 days and do the computation. Please refer to Section 6 and make sure your computations are absolutely correct and backed up by evidences such as flight/ship tickets and passport entries.
