and now my question is whether the approval of shareholders is required at AGM or EGM in case of appointment of Whole Time Director by Board of Directors in Private Companies as given in the reply of the above link??

For the appointment of WTD in a private company only board resolution is enough. There is no need to go for shareholders approval in EGM or AGM.

Whether the procedure is same if there is change in the designation of director to whole time director??

If you are appointing a director as WTD then you have to pass a board resolution and file form 32 with ROC for change in designation within 30 days of board meeting.
