23 November 2010 M/s X co. pvt ltd providing services of Medical Transcription of Data. The services is being utilised outside india. The payment is also received in the foreign currency.

Whether the registation is compulary under service tax

23 November 2010 As per law, if the value of services provided during the year exceeded Rs. 9,00,00/- then registration is required.

However, in practical while making export and availing the input credit, the registration shall be required.

Secondly, there is no service tax on export of service, however the credit of input tax paid may be availed and set off from other amount of service tax payable.

Hence, it is advisable to take service tax registration.
