After divorce monthly amount received for maintenance of minor child from Divorcee Husband is taxable or not in the hand of wife. Kindly mention reference if any.

The amount is not taxable as the same has been given for the maintenance of the child. Had they been not separated, the father would have directly been spending for the maintenance of his child. Here the purpose remained the same.

after divorce per court order she is getting the allowance for the maintenance of the child, per court Order, automatically that allowance cannot be added to her gross income, when so why she should pay tax on that allowance, i do not find any meaningful reason.
