Good Day!. I would like to import sample (fruit juice pet bottles) and I dont have ie code/license and I am new to imports and exports. Please let me know whether I need import license/ie code to import sample, in my case (fruit juice pet bottles).

All types of goods which are banned for import under the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992 are banned for import into India even as gifts or as commercial samples. The example of such goods are wild animals, wild birds or parts of wild animals and birds, narcotic drugs like opium, marijuana, ivory, arms like revolvers or pistols or other hand guns and ammunition

IN UR CASE please noted that u must required the IEC CODE.

20 January 2011 please also noted that as per chapter -2 of foreign trade policy-2010-11 para 2.8(iii) says that persons importing or exporting goods for personal use not connected with trade or manufacture or agriculture.

hence the matter is closed if u understands given clarification.
