Refund of tds on salary

02 June 2014 Hello everyone,

I work in a pvt com. Human resources has deducted my TDS on salary for the last quarter F.Y. 2013- 2014 since i have not given him the rent receipts and investment details.
My query is that can i claim refund of the same after giving the relevant documents to the HR.
I also want to know what is the last date of filling of return for individual for the F.Y. 2013- 2014.

And which form i should file for return.
Please i need guidance.

02 June 2014 if you want to claim refund, you need of filing income tax return on or before 31st july 2014 in ITR 1

02 June 2014 well it is not necessary that you need to file return before due date under 139(1) to claim refund.

you can file anytime before 31 May 2016. but ya, refund will be accordingly delayed.

with regards to your question on claiming deduction on HRA. Yes you can claim so. but ensure that you still submit the rent receipts to your employer.

I will submit rent receipts for the f.y.2013 _2014.
But sir I have never file return. How can I file online or offline.

03 June 2014 Its mandatory to file the return if the salary income exceeds Rs.200000/-.You can file it online.Once filed send the signed acknowledgement to the IT division located in Bangalore.Then only it will be considered as valid

03 June 2014 @sajeev...yes if your income is above the exemption limit, tax return is mandatory.

you should prefer filing online (in case mandatory online filing is not applicable to you) as it helps in faster processing of refunds.
