One Govt. employee has received Rs.18000 as leave encashment during the service. Whether he can avail rebate u/.s 89 or not? And if yes, please provide the calculation.

If the leave encashment pertains to the earlier years than the previous year, you can claim relief U/s 89(1). . In the absence of Total Income and Tax Paid data, calculation can not be made here. . As a matter of fact it's calculated on the basis of tax on receipt basis and tax on accrual basis for the previous years involved. .
