1. GST Rate on Cement and TMT Bars Cement: At present, GST rate is 28% (includes CGST + SGST or IGST). TMT Bars: GST rate is 18%. 2. Your Status: Service Provider or Trader? If you buy cement and TMT bars and then supply/sell them to a company, you are considered a trader/seller of goods. If you only provide services like arranging or procurement without taking ownership of goods, you might be considered a service provider (like an agent or broker). 3. What should you do if you are registered as a service provider? If your GST registration is under service category, but you are supplying goods, you should update your registration to include ‘goods supply’ as well or get a separate registration for goods. For goods supply, you must charge GST at applicable rates (28% for cement and 18% for TMT bars). If you charge GST as a service provider on goods supply, it will be incorrect and may lead to compliance issues.
