Assessing Oficer has come to know from the PAN of Assessee that there is a substantial gross receipts in 26AS as reported by deductor for the Asst Yr. 2009-10. It is also true from the Assesse's side that he never files return of income any time before the govt. The assessee works as a interior decorator and having gross receipt for the aforesaid period exceded 70 lakhs. In this situation assessing officer has asked to confirm whether the return of income has been filed or not. I need your valuable advice, pl help

You have no option other than acknowledging the fact that return has not been filed.
The AO will then issue a notice u/s 142(1) requiring the assessee to file the return/s. Therafter you will have to file the returns.
