we have purchase plot on notary rs.45000/- before 16 years ,now the valuation of notary/registry rs.7,50,000 to 10,00,000/- so please tell the tax liable or how much it is.

03 March 2014 well the tax shall depend on the sale value. so taxability shall depend on the actual sales value. assuming it as Rs 7.5 lakhs, you need to index Rs 45000 as per indexation table http://cadiary.org/cost-inflation-index-capital-gain/

the sales value less the indexed cost shall be taxed at 20%.
