Hi amita daga,
There is one company which is situated in hyderabad and having branches in other states. This company is dedcucting professional tax only for the employees who are working in hyderabad.i.e for the persons who are working in otherstates professional tax not deducting.Is it correct what the company is doing.
urgent pls help me in this.

"Profession Tax is a State level Tax in India on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments.
The following Indian states levy Profession Tax - West Bengal, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamilnadu and Madhya Pradesh"

So Employer need to make arrangements for deducting Profession Tax at applicable rates for employees working in other States and remittance to concerned Panchayat/Municipal authorities
