What is Pre acqusition and Post acqusition in Investment?

Both the periods are determined from the date pf acquisition of the investment.
The period PRIOR to the date of acquisition is known as pre-acquisition period and the period commencing from the date of acquisition is known as post-acquisition period.
In case of shares, dividend received for pre-acquisition period is reduced from the cost of acquisition for accounting purposes.
