Practicing CA - Please share your views

Hi Friends,
I am a recently passed CA. I have an intense desire to get COP and Practice.But I have got a lot of demotivating suggestions from many of my friends.
But a couple of days back one of my friends who is the son of a Practicing CA suggested me to practice.He told that number of CAs coming to practice is very few and the number of opportunities are growing heavily. If I start Practice in your opinion how long will it take to get established ?
I would also like to know what is retainer ship?
Please share your views...

Gettng estd. In practice depends upon ur network ur ability to get clients nd provide them satisfactry services at competitiv rates. Bt a minimum period of 2 to 5yrs. Bt gud benifits aftrwards. All the best 4ur future ahead.

do what ur mind and ur parents say, dont take other's view.
u might have to face low earning in starting years. if u and ur parents can adjust with this fact , get started,.....practise can give u better returns in future ..

ap present scope is very wide for practicing CA. near term DTC, GST, IFRS will be applicable. it is new for all businessman and corporate. if anyone will master in one of that area then he/she can earn beyond imagination.
GST have a lot of scop in our practice field.
valuation course are also offered by ICAI, lot of scope in this area also.
