Per diem taxation

This query is : Resolved

26 November 2016 Hi

I am travelling on a US assignment from feb 17 to Jan 18. During this time I will be earning salary in India(TDS deducted) and monthly per diem for my expenses in US. This per diem will be paid through Forex card loaded from India. So once i return and encash the forex card(unspent per diem) will it be taxable. If yes, what happens if i withdraw the money in US and sent to an NRI account(if i am eligible to open one) or sent to my wife's or parents accounts ?

Thanks

27 November 2016 what has not been spent is taxable in your hands regardless of whether you transfer if to your NRI account or relatives' account.

28 November 2016 In continuation you may refer section 10(14)(1) r.w.rule 2BB .
