07 November 2009 A Partnership firm had assessed with a PAN & TAN ,which is alloted by TIN .Deptt.
Subsequently, it converts into Proprietorship ,but the name of Org is same ( as firm)

Now,please guide us whether he should applied for New PAN & TAN
or by making an application to TIN Deptt. Status of former PAN & TAN can be Changed

07 November 2009 Status cannot be changed. Surrender the existing PAN and TAN. Apply afresh in proprietors name.

07 November 2009 U have to get new PAN & TAN because of change in status of assessee

07 November 2009 Agree with Warrrier and Menon, when there is cahnge is the status fresh PAN and TAN is cumplusory
