Pan correction

10 December 2015 Dear Sir,
There is a pan of a partnership firm. wherein fourth letter is B instead of F. And this PAN is alloted on the name of partner's name instead of firm's name. I think the person who had filled the PAN application made this blunder.
And whereas this firm is filing its IT returns on the same PAN from last 8 to 10 years.

Whether the this mistake can be rectified by enclosing original partnership deed with correction application.
And whether the fourth letter would be replaced after amendment?

Please advise me.

10 December 2015 Yes.

Please go ahead and fill the online application for rectification. It will prompt you to attach the documents enlisted in pop up menu. Select the appropriate one.

(In most of the cases the PAN does not get changed, only the record is updated.) so it is quite likely that even after rectification B remains in PAN as it is. Dont get irritated with that. What is to be rectified is the database. Right?

10 December 2015 However, in correction form we have column of name where we can place correct name, but there is no column of status, where I can fill firm instead of body of individual.

And Whether this pan correction application can be made manually?
