21 September 2012 Dear Expert

I am NRI. I do have salary income abroad. In this year though i am NRI, I want to file the Return. Could you plz suggest me what amount needs to be filled in Gross Income or Income under the head Salaries in ITR 1. Because Entire income is exempt. Where should i show the Income in ITR 1. Kindly suggest the place to show salary income in ITR 1. Practical difficulty plz understood.

21 September 2012 Dear Mihir,

When there is no income you earned in India you can file nil returns which means filing of returns by the assesees who are not required to pay any tax to the Indian Exchequer. Your salary in abroad is not at all income as per Income Tax Act of India so the concept of Exempted Income would not arise.

But how to file the return bcoz in future if at all i want to avail home loan then i can do it easily.....
