19 March 2014 Got a notification from IT dept asking information as follows:

Information code-94A
Information- TDS return- Interest other than interest on securities (section 194A)

What does this mean?
What information are they asking for?

19 March 2014 is this all? the notice should have also mentioned about returns not filed!

19 March 2014 yes they are asking for return status too.

The query regarding "TDS RETURN" is not clear.

19 March 2014 I dont think they are asking for TDS returns.

Please check form 26AS, it should be showing tax credit under section 194A.

What they want to know is why you have not filed tax returns.

19 March 2014 The income is below taxable limit & there is no Tax credit.

Further in the response to the information asked for, the options available are: Self/ Other PAN/ not known & i need more information

19 March 2014 well if the income is below taxable limit, there is no need to file the return...so you tick Income Below Taxable Limit.
