I am doing lic agent and getting commision on lic and filled ITR4 department has send notice under section 139(9) Error code is 31 Error discription TAX [AYER HAVING INCOME UNDER HEAD "PROFITS AND GAINS OF BUSINESS OR PROFESSION" BUT HAS NOT FILLED BALANCE SHEET AND PROFIT AND LOSS AS REQUIRED IN EXPLANATION(D) UNDER SECTION 139(9) READ WITH SECTION 44AA.kINDLY HELP FOR RESOLVE THIS MATTER.

05 January 2017 The ITR-4 Form is applicable for individuals or HUFs who have income from proprietary business or are carrying on a profession. If the requirements of audit are applicable, the due date of filing of return is 30th September. Otherwise, usually the due date of filing of return for non-audit cases is 31st July.

The form filed you is correct but you need to also fill in the Balance sheet and P&L Info. I presume that the amount when filed was left as Zero in each of the columns.

You may approach your CA. He will do revised filing of the same.
