25 March 2015 From when will the new rates of Service Tax be applicable or are they applicable as Excise rates... From the day they are said in union budget?

25 March 2015 they are yet not notified by department so wait till they are notified and current rates shall prevail i.e 12.36%

25 March 2015 The new Service Tax rate shall come into effect from a date to be notified by the Central Government after the enactment
of the Finance Bill, 2015

So, most probably in the month of April, 2015 new rates will be notified..

26 March 2015 Please refer D.O.F. No. 334/5/2015-TRU Dated 28.02.2015 from link given below:

In Point No. 3.3 it is clearly mentioned that "The new Service Tax rate shall come into effect from a date to be notified by the Central Government after the enactment of the Finance Bill, 2015."

So till the new rates are notified Service Tax rate will be 12.36%.

19 May 2015 Revised Service Tax Rate will be applicable from 01.06.2015.
