03 August 2024 To calculate the deduction under Section 80CCD(2) of the Income Tax Act using Excel, you need to follow these steps. This section allows for deductions for contributions made by the employer to the National Pension System (NPS) account of the employee.

Here’s a step-by-step guide and a template for calculating the deduction:

### Steps for Calculation

1. **Determine the Contribution Amount**:
- Check the total contribution made by the employer to the NPS account.
- Ensure this contribution is within the permissible limit under Section 80CCD(2).

2. **Check the Eligibility**:
- The contribution eligible for deduction under Section 80CCD(2) is the amount made by the employer up to 10% of the salary (basic + dearness allowance) of the employee.

3. **Apply the Deduction**:
- The deduction under Section 80CCD(2) is available over and above the Rs. 1.5 lakh limit under Section 80C.

### Excel Template for Deduction Calculation

Below is a sample Excel template you can use for calculating the deduction under Section 80CCD(2). You can copy this template into an Excel sheet and fill in the relevant details:

| **Description** | **Amount (₹)** |
|------------------------------|----------------|
| **1. Salary (Basic + DA)** | |
| **2. Employer Contribution to NPS** | |
| **3. Maximum Deductible Amount (10% of Salary)** | |
| **4. Deductible Amount Under Section 80CCD(2)** | |

#### Excel Formulae

1. **Maximum Deductible Amount**:
\[ = \text{Salary} \times 10\% \]

2. **Deductible Amount Under Section 80CCD(2)**:
\[ = \text{MIN(Employer Contribution to NPS, Maximum Deductible Amount)} \]

Here’s how you can set up the Excel sheet:

**Cell A1**: Description
**Cell B1**: Amount (₹)

**Cell A2**: Salary (Basic + DA)
**Cell B2**: (Enter Salary amount here)

**Cell A3**: Employer Contribution to NPS
**Cell B3**: (Enter Employer's contribution amount here)

**Cell A4**: Maximum Deductible Amount (10% of Salary)
**Cell B4**: `=B2*10%`

**Cell A5**: Deductible Amount Under Section 80CCD(2)
**Cell B5**: `=MIN(B3, B4)`

### Example

Let’s assume:
- Salary (Basic + DA) = ₹6,00,000
- Employer Contribution to NPS = ₹70,000

**Cell B2**: ₹6,00,000
**Cell B3**: ₹70,000
**Cell B4**: `=B2*10%` which equals ₹60,000
**Cell B5**: `=MIN(B3, B4)` which equals ₹60,000

In this example, the deductible amount under Section 80CCD(2) is ₹60,000.

Feel free to adjust the template according to your specific needs. If you need further customization or have additional requirements, let me know!
