Mla allowances- whether taxable or not?

30 April 2014 A MLA is getting following allowances apart from basic salary. Whether the same would be taxable or not?

1. Travelling Allowances
2. Stationery Allowances
3. consituency Allowances.
4. Daily Allowances.

30 April 2014 Exempt Incomes.
Section 10(17)
Any income by way of—
(i) daily allowance received by any person by reason of his membership of Parliament or of any State Legislature or of any Committee thereof;
(ii) any allowance received by any person by reason of his membership of Parliament under the Members of Parliament (Constituency Allowance) Rules, 1986;
(iii) any constituency allowance received by any person by reason of his membership of any State Legislature under any Act or rules made by that State Legislature;

30 April 2014 MLAs are covered under State Legislature I believe. Please verify at your end.

Expemt allowances are stated in section 10(17), which implies rest all other expenses are taxable. Travelling allowance is exempt Rs.800/- p.m.
