Mistake in name in Income Tax Department database

15 December 2010 Dear Sir/Madam,

1) When pan card application form was given the name was correctly mentioned in the application form, However when i received the pan card there was a mistake in my First name i.e. Spelling

2) I had applied for a change and the same got rectified.

3) The name reflecting in Income database is still the wrong name. The pan card which is with me is showing the correct name. Please let me know the formalities to change the name in Income tax Departments. Please explain me the procedure which i need to follow.

15 December 2010 Mistakes, if are genuine and unintentional, no need to worry. Department is always facing such type of problems. They are dealing with thousands of issues. I confirm Mr Bhagat's view.

Really appreciated your prompt reply however, the problem is that in order to open the demat account they are verifying from Income tax database which is still showing the old(Incorrect) Details so then what is the solution for changing the details in the income tax database. Whom shall we address.
