Missing of income tax challan

I am preparing IT Returns of my client for 5 years and need to file all years returns at a time because of a notice received from IT dept. in doing that work, I lost one of advance Tax paid challan for financial year 2007-08 for which 26AS details not available in ITD Website. how to proceed further to claim the advance tax paid without having proof of payment...please guide me in this regard as soon as possible...

27 January 2013 In case Books of accounts are maintained or paid by cheque, indicate the date of payment and claim such amount. You may get the details from the Bank through which the amount was paid.

27 January 2013 thanks u sir for ur reply. but no books of accounts maintained as the client is individual, also advance tax challan paid by cash. as you stated above is it possible to get challan payment details from bank though the payment is made in 2008, nearly 5 ago...

27 January 2013 You must contact the AO with a written request to accept the details furnished in respect to tax paid. He only can entertain your plea.
