18 July 2009 Case I - section 2 (a) of 80D, where the assessee is an individual, any sum paid to effect or to keep in force an insurance on the health of the assessee or on the health of the wife or husband, dependent parents or dependent children of the assessee., Hence if you are individual you can claim 15000 but
Please note :- in a case where such sum does not exceed in the aggregate (Fifteen thousand rupees, the whole of such sum)
In short, you can claim mediclaim one of them (Only one - father or urself)

Case II - If u are HUF, thn u can claim 15000 or 20000 for dependent senior citizen as father but in this case also u can claim only one i.e., ur father claim or your claim.

Imp Note :- U can claim only when payment other than cash.

18 July 2009 In frst case 15000 and in 2nd case 20000 (15000 + 5000 extra for Senior citizen. :)

18 July 2009 in both cases you can claim 30000....

1.hoever in 1st case if u hav paid 20000...then you can get only 30000.....
