MEDICAL CLAIMS

This query is : Resolved

11 January 2010 I HAVE 15000Rs. AS MEDICAL REIMBURSMENT IN MY SALARY. I HAVE NOT CLAIMED FOR THE SAME DURING FINANCIAL YEAR 2007-08 & 08-09. I HAVE BILLS FOR THE SAME.
NOW MY EMPLOYEE HAS GIVEN ME 45000Rs. AS MEDICAL REIMBURSMENT. CAN ANYBODY PLEASE TELL ME HOW CAN I CALCULATE TAX ON THIS . IS IT POSSIBLE TO PRESENT PREVIOUS YEAR'S BILLS IN CURRENT YEAR IF I HAVE NOT CLAIMED FOR PREVIOUS YEAR'S MEDICAL BILLS.?

13 January 2010 You cannot claim the unclaimed bills of past years in the current year. For the current year, out of the total reimbursement received, Rs. 15,000 will not be taxable & balance will be taxed as salary.
