I joined in april 2005 in a company
till date i have not claimed for LTA
In March 2009 I want to claim for the same.
can anybody tell me for how many years I can claim LTA ? and will tax deducted from LTA amt?

You can claim LTA two times in a block of four years.
But note you cannot claim LTA for more than one year in a single year.

There is a block period to claim LTA. The current block is calender year 06-09 and you can claim LTA 2 times in a block.
Further If you have not claimed any LTA in current block yet then you can claim one LTA in immediate next block but only in first year of that block.
Minimum three days leave is required for that. You can claim it for your family members also.

TDS is not applicable as ruled in recent case of Larsen & Toubro v/s Supreme Court of India.
