late payment of service tax

30 January 2011 Respected Sirs,
One of my cliet has not paid service tax since April 10 but have filed service tax nil return of half yearly ie Sept 10. Now he wants to pay all the dues from April. My question is whether i should pay his tax from April 10 to till date with interest and show the same in March return. Please advice

30 January 2011 The assessee is liable to pay simple interest at the rate of one and one half percent for every month or the part of the month by which such payment is delayed.

Now revise return and pay all dues.with 1.5% interest form which month service tax due.

30 January 2011 I think, interest is to be paid @ 13% for the delay in payment in number of days.

Suppose For the I quarter payment was due on 5th July 2010 , and the date of payment is say 31st Jan 2011, then delay in No of days
is 211 days. So interest payable on Service Tax of Rs 3650 will be 3650*211*13%/365=274.30

If i make the service tax with interest whether i can revise October return.As per my information we can reivse service tax return within 90 days of filing original return.

You must try, I think ther will be no problem in revising the return.

But first pay the taxes as soon as you can.
