23 December 2013 After payment of late filing levy u/s 234E, is there any need to file modified online TDS return to reflect payment of this levy? Or, will the Income Tax department reconcile the same on their own?

24 December 2013 yes you need to revise the return. dont depend on income tax to act on its own specially in TDS matters.

One more related query. What's the time permitted for payment of the late filing levy u/s 234E from the date of order?

For example, I received the letter in mail one month after the order date. It is rather complicated to download and open any statements from the TDSCPC website.

24 December 2013 well you need to pay as early as possible if you are not disputing the amount of fees.

TDS notices almost as a rule reach very late. So act as early as possible.

24 December 2013 Thanks again. How can one dispute this delay in filing the return within 15 days of end of previous quarter. I was just not aware of this.

After this penal payment, is there again a need for expeditious filing of the revised return?

Can this again lead to further penalty--thus going into an endless loop of penalty over late payment or late filing of revised return.

25 December 2013 1. you can dispute in case where you receive notice from the department of payment and where computation of the fees is wrong. In your case it may not apply

2. So if you know that delay is confirmed and no dispute is around there, so just pay it off at the earliest...
