Last Year ITC Auto Adjusted in Next Year

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
If you have a balance of Input Tax Credit (ITC) showing on your ledger as of March 31st, 2020, and it was automatically adjusted in your April 2021 returns instead of being claimed as a refund, this is generally a normal process. The GST portal automatically sets off credit ledger balances when filing GSTR-3B. However, certain items like RCM, interest, and late fees must be paid in cash, as ITC is only for outward supplies. If you were expecting a refund, ensure it's for eligible categories like zero-rated supplies or excess cash ledger payments.

29 August 2020 GST portal automatically run the set-off process/step. GST under RCM, interest and late fees are the ones which is required to be paid in cash only as ITC can only be used for GST on outward supplies. You stated refund, please go through the process of refund as GST refunds are applicable to Zero-rated supplies, inverted duty structure and excess payment in Electronic Cash Ledger only.
