Kept material generarte an Excise Invoice

Dear Sir,
Can we kept the material in our factory after generate an Excise Invoice for that particular material. Please guide me in this matter.
Please provide notification or any circular in this regard.

Invoices can be retained for 24 hrs. If over that time pl cancle the invoice and submit indicate those cancelled invoices while filing ER-1
