30 August 2022 Can i change new tax regime to old tax regime of salaried person for AY 2021-22 through ITR U (Updated Return).
Note : Assume other condition to file ITR U has been full filled like his total income increased, he paid additional tax on additional income, he is not claiming refund etc.)

One more query in this regard-
A salaried person has filled original return in old tax regime for Ay 2021-22. Later he filled revised return for Ay 2021-22 under new tax regime. Demand raised by department through intimation order 143(1) and reason for demand is that department not consider opting for new tax regime under revised return for same AY i.e. Ay 2021-22 and accordingly tax calculated under old tax regime and accordingly demand raised in intimation order u/s 143(1). Whether demand raised by department is correct.
And if correct what assessee can do in this case. Weather he can file rectification u/s 154 for change tax regime ( New to Old in my case because assessee want to return to old tax regime ) or weather he can file updated return u/s 139(8A) for such change.
Note : One more change that assessee want to do is that he have to add some other income under the head income from other sources.

30 August 2022 1. Yes, demand should be correct with old regime. Pay the demand as per old regime.
2. Stick to new regime, if return filed under new regime for same year and check which one suits you better.
