IT refund credited to some other person's a/c

17 January 2020 Dear Sir,
At the time filing of income tax return i have provided wrong account number due to typing error of one digit. so income tax department had credited refund in that account. Now we aware about mistake we have did. i have filed grievance to CPC and refund banker but they answered that " Refund is already credited in your Account". Now how can we get refund in this situation?

17 January 2020 You may visit the bank to know as to whose account number you have quoted and then contact that person with a request to transfer the refund to your account. Grievance cell or refund banker would do nothing as they have transferred your refund to the account provided by you. Now a days, the ITD is not making such errors as unless the PAN number in bank account is matched. Also check if there is refund failure and if so you may make request for reissue of refund. It is also advised that you should pre-validate the bank account before making a reissue request.
