Is salary to director allowed as expense to an educ society?

25 November 2013 Can an Educational Society give salary to its Director for the services he renders to the society?

Will it be allowable as an expense to the AOP?

Please reply.

25 November 2013 If the bye-laws of the Educational Society have no restriction in this regard, Salary can be given to the director and the same will be allowable as an expense.
.
However, he should not be the member of the AOP.

Sir, what will be the scenario if he is a member, shouldn't he get some remuneration if he renders managerial service to the AOP?

27 November 2013 In case of salary to a member of an AOP you may refer Section 40(ba).
.
Such salary shall be disallowed.
.
But, the AOP is if a Society Registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1960 or a co-operative society, the said provisions are not applicable.
