24 July 2018 a female senior citizen having fd interest income. she given 15h to bank but by mistake tds of rs.34 deducted once n later no deduction made. during the financial year 17-18 she earned rs.15,000 as interest and she made a deposit of rs. 1.40 lacs at bank fd for 1 yr. and rs.1.60 lacs in post office senior citizen saving scheme(5yr.fd) out of past savings. does she need to file a return as tds of rs.34 deducted? which itr? what should be the source of income and under which head of income? kindly suggest asap. thanks in advance

25 July 2018 is it not mandatory to file return if tds is made to her.( i.e., rs. 34 in this case). Is there any notice may be expected by IT dept. in this regard? thank u in adv.

25 July 2018 No notice will be received for such small deposits.
No need to file return if income earned is less than 2.50 lacs small TDS deduction doesn't matter.
