Investment of funds in fixed deposit

Can a company invest its fund in fixed deposit? Will it be covered under section 179 of the Companies Act, 2013 or will section 186 will also apply or not ? As under section 186 Investment by company covers only Securities ie, Shares, debentures, bonds etc. not a fixed deposit.

Yes. it will be covered under section 179 of the companies act 2013. You have to pass board resolution and file MGT 14
