Intimation under section 143(1) of income tax act, 1961.

This query is : Resolved

09 August 2011 I am assessed under the head 'Income from Salary' for Ass. year 2010-11 my income was under the taxable amount. Now i receive a Notice u/s 143(1). But the amount payable/refundable is Zero.
What do I do with this Notice. Do I have to intimate the assessing Officer anything.
What is the sense or necessary to send such Notice.

09 August 2011 This is an intimation stating that , prima facie, the data given through the return of Income filed by you is accepted by the Income tax department.
You may keep the intimation and no need to send communicate with the ITO.

09 August 2011 Thank you very much Mr. B. Chackrapani Warrier. The Notice should have in written that this need not to be replied or something to a layman, guess our System is made to confuse rather than simplify.
Thank you very much indeed !
