Income tax return in case of doctors

good evening
By profession I am consulting dentist.
Now i want to file ITR.
So can i file ITR 4 as profession without books of a/c.
Is there any compulsion on Doctors to maintain books of a/c.

25 June 2013 Yes sir, it is compulsory to maintain Books of Accounts in your case in such a way that that enables the AO to compute your Total Income.

Also, there are certain prescribed records like Daily Patient Register, which are to be compulsorily maintained.
.
ITR4 is ok. But no books of Account case does not apply to your case.

Gross recipt
Gross Profit
expences
Net profit.
As profession without books of account

25 June 2013 Dear Doctor, it is must for Medical Practitioners to maintain there books of accounts and prepare balance Sheet.

The columns u mentioned are for those who are not required to maintain books of accounts but not in your case.

You better consult a C.A. and prepare a Balance Sheet
