An alternate director is a director for all intents and purposes under Companies Act, in view of the definition of the word 'director' as given in section 2(13) of the Act which states that 'director' includes any person occupying the position of director, by whatever name called. Therefore, you have to mention the details of alternate director in Annual Return describing him as a Director
