09 March 2011 Please let me know how to identify commissionerate, division & range applicable while making fresh registration application under service tax (service provider)? Where can we obtain details there of? Help-line numbers of the department are not so effective in obtaining the information.

09 March 2011 Apparently the fields for information are compulsary fields. Hence, if left blank, the application doesn't get processed.

01 November 2011 Details of Commissionerate, Range and Division cannot be left blank at the time of online registration....you cannot submit the form online unless u fill in these compulsory details...

These details can be left blank if you are manually filling up the registration...then you can leave it blank for the department to fill up...else is compulsory to be filled up at the time of online registration...

No where on the Service Tax website these details are provided....

The only three (optional) ways to get the same are:
1) Visit you nearest department and get the details from them
2) Call and get it (if you are lucky...u may get the same :))
3) These details are put in the Trade Notices issued...

At some places these details are on the basis of the location of the office for which you want to get registered and at some departments, it is on the basis of nature of service provided by you...
