10 February 2014 Can we get 50% benifit for HRA in "Thane". or it will be restricted to 40%

If any employees official address on rent agreement is Thane but that is practically coming in Mumbai then can he get benifit of 50%

10 February 2014 Yes, For HRA calculation 50% benefit may be considered in place of 40% as Thane is also part of Mumbai Metropolitan region.

In my view, in the rules "Bombay" should be understood as the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
