11 August 2010 HI,

Whether Service tax is payable by service receiver for parcels etc sent thr courier and accounted as freight charges in company books?

In case freight charges are recovered from parties whether st on gta is still payable.

Pls quote ref if possible.

11 August 2010 Courier services are separate category of service not covered under GTA and tax need to collect and payable by the service provider only, so it is not covered under GTA

If Freight charges recovered from party, but as a service receiver of transport, you may pay ST, But based on the nature of arrangement between you and recovering person
