24 September 2012 I have passed my finals both groups.
I want to know which forms I am required to fill and submit to get Certificate of Practice also I want to open my own proprietorship concern and not join any firm/company. So which forms to fill regarding it.
Will the proprietorship have to be in my name? Can i add "& others" to the name?
Do I have register my proprietorship?

24 September 2012 Fill form no 2, under section of MEMBBERS category at www.icai.org, for getting membership and calling for C.O.P go through form 6... also, form 18 and form 117 would help you to understand various rules for getting name for your firm..

24 September 2012 And its not necessary that proprietorship should be in your name.. it is completely fine, if you have it in other name.. but go through those above mentioned forms, to understand, what kind of a name you can have for your firm

24 September 2012 Do I have to fill Form No.2 and Form 117(Approval of the Trade/Firm Name) and Form 18(Registration of the Trade/Firm) together?
Both Form 117 and 18 ask for membership no, which I do not have.

For getting Certificate of Practice, the Associate/ Fellow Member is required to file Form No. 6 with requisite fee (Rs. 2000/-).

Membership no. is mandatory for getting COP.

24 September 2012 For getting membership, you are required to fill form no. 2... so, it is ofcoarse compulsory..

How much time does ICAI take to allot membership no. and COP and register proprietorship?

25 September 2012 Membership takes bit of a time.. Once you get the membership, thn only you can go for COP and registration/approval of firm name.., that wont take long.......

getting membership number may take as long as one month..
