FORM 26QB IN CASE OF JOINT BUYER

This query is : Resolved

Quick Summary
When purchasing a property together, Form 26QB filing depends on the total property value, not just individual buyer shares. If the total sale consideration exceeds Rs 50 Lakh, Form 26QB must be filed, regardless of how the payment is split between joint buyers. This applies even if each buyer's individual contribution is less than the Rs 50 Lakh threshold.

14 October 2023 A property is being jointly purchased by two brothers Mr A & Mr B for Rs 60 Lakh.
Both the buyers will contribute 50% (i.e 30 Lakh) each.

Will they have to file Form 26QB ??
As their individual share (Rs 30 lakh) is less than the threshold limit of Rs 50 Lakh.

14 October 2023 Yes, as the property value is more than 50 lacs.
