05 September 2012 helo sir, my dad is a salary employed in kuwait. i want to file a income tax return of my dad what itr i will fill for him.

05 September 2012 Could guide if you can give us the following details:

Is he getting any income from house property? Business income? capital gains?

Based on this he can file return ITR 1 or ITR 2. You can check the forms in incometaxindia.gov.in website

10 September 2012 are u sure about this. if a person earn from salary outside India.
then file ITR 1 Sahj
that income what i show salary or other source.

One has to file Income tax return if:
1. he is a resident and ordinarily resident

AND

2. he has income from any source in India

Assuming that your father is resident and ordinarily resident, i suggested that he has to file ITR 1 Sahaj.

You can check whether your father is a resident in following way

1. Did he stay in India atleast 182 days or more during the previous year?

2. a) Did he reside in India for atleast 730 days during 7 years preceding previous years AND b) Was he a resident in india out of preceding 10 previous years.

If the answer is Yes to all the questions, then he has to file a return (ITR 1 in your case).

Where the Answer is No, he need not file a return.

Since your father earns only salary abroad,
it will be chargeable as Salaries only

In my previous Answer,I should have stated that i have assumed your father was a resident who went abroad recently.Apologies.
