14 August 2015 f I get 60 marks in one of the subjects in group and get 0(zero) mark in other subject. Whether I am eligible for exemption in the subject in which I have scored 60 marks?

21 July 2024 Typically, eligibility for exemption in a subject in professional exams like ICWAI/CMA (Cost and Management Accountancy) is determined based on achieving a certain minimum score, which is usually 50%. Exemption rules vary depending on the specific regulations of the institution conducting the exams. Here’s a general guideline:

1. **Minimum Score Requirement**: To be eligible for exemption in a subject, you generally need to score at least 50% or a specified minimum marks threshold. This means if you score less than 50%, you may not be eligible for exemption, even if you pass the other subjects in the group.

2. **Specific Subject Requirement**: Exemption is typically granted for individual subjects based on meeting the minimum score requirement for that subject. If you score 60 marks (assuming this meets or exceeds the minimum score requirement) in one subject but score 0 marks in another subject, the decision on exemption will be based on whether you meet the minimum score requirement for the subject in which you scored 60 marks.

3. **Aggregate Score vs. Individual Subjects**: Exemption is usually granted on a subject-by-subject basis rather than on the aggregate score of all subjects in a group. Therefore, scoring well in one subject does not automatically grant exemption for all subjects in the group.

4. **ICWAI/CMA Regulations**: It’s important to refer to the specific rules and regulations of ICWAI/CMA regarding exemptions. These rules can sometimes change, so always check the latest guidelines from ICWAI/CMA or consult with your institution or a qualified advisor for accurate information.

In conclusion, scoring 60 marks in one subject could potentially make you eligible for exemption in that subject, provided it meets or exceeds the minimum score requirement set by ICWAI/CMA. However, exemption eligibility is subject to meeting specific criteria laid down by the institution conducting the exams.
