Excise dealer return not uploaded due to system error

We have made several attempts to file the dealer return of excise till last date i.e. 15 March, 2012. due to registration number. It was showing that no. not in system. we have submitted manual return to dept. after due date. this time we have also faced XML structure error and we have submitted manual return. please suggest how to deal with such kind of situation and if we receive show cause notice how to present our side in that>

as the return is submitted manually to department under seal and signature, no SCN can be issued, but you have to get in touch with department to resolve the issues of filing returns online, to avoid complications in future
